October 2026 Chapter Newsletter

Idaho ASHRAE Chapter 135: October at the chapter. Two events, two ways to get involved.

Here’s what’s happening in October

October brings two ways to get involved: a lunch panel on how design, construction, and operations fit together, and a hands-on volunteer night with Young Engineers in ASHRAE. Society has a full slate of live virtual training this month too, and if you missed September’s cornhole tournament, we’ve got the results.

Contractor Panel Discussion: Bridging Design, Construction, and Operations

Contractors from the mechanical, refrigeration, controls, and construction trades sit down with engineers, designers, and owners to talk through what’s shaping projects today.

On the table: collaboration between stakeholders, project delivery, rework, workforce development, commissioning and startup, emerging technology, and controls integration. It’s an open, conversational format, so bring your questions and your own lessons learned.

You’ll come away able to:

  • Recognize the challenges contractors run into during design, construction, commissioning, and startup
  • Apply strategies for better collaboration between contractors, engineers, and owners
  • Track emerging industry trends, technologies, and workforce initiatives
  • Use practical approaches to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and deliver better outcomes

Eight teams took over Powderhaus Brewing on September 24 for the chapter’s fall cornhole tournament. JB the big juan (Antonio & Aaron) never dropped a game and closed out the championship 25–3. JB Numba 1 fought back through the losers’ bracket to finish second, and Holy Moley took third after three straight elimination wins.

Thank you to everyone who played, to Powderhaus for hosting, and to the sponsors who put their names on the boards. The full bracket, every score, and the photos are on the site.
