Government Affairs Committee
The Government Affairs Committee (GAC) connects chapters with government officials and policy makers to advance the Society’s public policy priorities. The committee as supported by the Society-level GAC through RVCs shares policy and regulatory updates, provides organizational support and communication tools for government outreach to help members effectively engage with government entities.
What We Do
We are the chapter’s voice on public policy – engaging with state and local officials on building codes, energy policy, and the issues that shape how Idaho builds.
- Monitor building code and energy policy developments in Idaho
- Engage state and local officials with ASHRAE’s technical expertise
- Share ASHRAE position documents with decision-makers
- Keep members informed on policy affecting the profession
Get Involved
If you follow codes and policy – or want a seat at the table when Idaho’s building rules are written – this committee is where that happens.
Volunteer
New volunteers are always welcome - no committee experience needed.

The committee is active at monthly chapter meetings and chapter events year-round.
Any chapter member – and joining a committee is one of the best ways to get more out of your ASHRAE membership.
As much or as little as you can give. Most committee work happens around monthly chapter meetings, with occasional events during the year.
