Front Street Boise\, ID 83702 \nShare Speaker: Dru Crawley is a Bentley Fellow and Director of Building Performance Research at Bentley Systems\, where he leads initiatives focused on building performance\, decarbonization\, digital twins\, smart cities\, sustainability\, resilience\, and zero-energy buildings. With more than 40 years of experience\, he previously led the development of EnergyPlus and the U.S. DOE’s Commercial Buildings Initiative\, has authored over 125 publications\, and is internationally recognized for his leadership in ASHRAE\, IBPSA\, and advancing energy-efficient\, high-performance buildings. Dr. Crawley holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee\, is a registered architect\, an ASHRAE Fellow\, and a recipient of numerous industry awards for his contributions to building energy modeling\, standards development\, and sustainability. Title: Big\, Smart\, and Everything: Data\, Technology\, Buildings\, Cities\, and the IoT Description: There is a transformation under way in the world that will fundamentally change how we interact with our technology\, buildings and cities. Big data allows us to find trends and causes not clear from our limited data today. Everything is going ‘Smart’ today – from windows\, walls and all the technology in our buildings to communities and cities. This presentation describes the basics of big data\, IoT\, and Smart everything and its applications and promise in buildings. Title: Introduction to Building Decarbonization Description: This presentation describes the basics of building decarbonization are presented including building carbon dioxide and other emissions\, key drivers for decarbonization\, how carbon impact is measured\, and the accepted international standards for defining carbon life-cycle calculations. The key decarbonization methods are then described including offset strategies\, electrification technology applications\, and ways they can be implemented in the building sector. Finally\, the efforts that ASHRAE already has under way to provide relevant information about decarbonization to the membership\, and to embed decarbonization in our standards and guidelines.
